Doing The Work

Nov 29, 2018 | 4 comments

Its hard for everyone of all ages to stay 100% motivated all the time. We all struggle with distractions especially when the task in front of us is difficult. Welcome to the entertainment industry.

Everyone in LA has a dream that they desperately want to come true. Whether that dream is to work as a dancer, actor, singer, editor, director (etc.) everyone is here for a reason. The hardest thing about this industry is the fact that everyone around you is going to fight for what they want. If you slack off, you are allowing everyone else a better chance at achieving your goal.

This post isn’t supposed to be discouraging. Everyone and I mean everyone (including me) gets lazy, it’s human nature. However, this industry is so full of rejection and you will have times when you just want to quit and go home, but you can’t give up! If this goal or dream of yours is truly something that you want, then most likely you can’t live without it. You know that if you give up now, you will regret it for the rest of your life.

This is where doing the work comes in. In those moments of discouragement or laziness you need to remind yourself why you are here. Why are you fighting for this? Forget about everyone else for a moment, and tell yourself why you are spending so much time and energy fighting for this dream. Motivate yourself! You want to be living that dream way more than you want to watch The Office for the 100th time. Yes it’s hard and yes it sucks sometimes, but that’s life in general.

Doing the work isn’t always going to be hard, but it definitely can be. That’s why it’s so important to remind yourself WHY you are an artist. If you can motivate yourself to get off your butt and start fighting, you’ll get where you want to go!

This point is very good because how complicated life can be sometimes and if we don’t keep motivated it can be even worse.

Thanks. It’s something I’ve been working on myself so I’m glad you agree!

    Hi Marin!

It’s great to read about your inspirations and hard work, thanks for sharing! I really admire your drive. When I was your age I had no idea what I wanted for life. I do now but it’s awesome to read how hard you drive yourself toward your goal at such young age!

You’re a drummer too? So am I! Just a hobbyist but still. 🙂 I’d love to read you blogging about drumming. Keep beating those drums girl!

Aye! It’s always fun to meet fellow drummers! I’ll definitely do a post on drumming in the future. Happy to hear from you!
